Arun Gupta Applauds Nitin Gadkari for Resolving Kunjwani-Narwal Flyover Dispute

Kunjwani-Narwal Flyover Plan Revised: Gupta Commends Leaders for Preserving Local Business Connections

Jammu, 04-07-2024: Sh. Arun Gupta, President CCI expressed gratitude to Sh. Nitin Gadkari, Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highway and thanks to  Sh. Tarun Chugh, Hon’ble  BJP National General Secretary and Incharge Jammu Kashmir Party Affairs and Sh. Jugal Kishore Sharma, Hon’ble Member Parliament for their efforts resolving the issue pertaining to the disputed fly-over from the Kunjwani-Narwal sector.

Sh. Arun Gupta stated that we had always welcomed the expressway but were seeking a fly-over instead of RE wall as the blind walls on both sides of the expressway may disrupt the vital connections between shops, business houses and residential areas. The decision taken at the high level meeting of the National Highway Authority of India chaired by Sh. Nitin Gadgari will address the concerns of stakeholders as the blind wall based flyover would have spoiled all the commercial establishments and also created obstacles in the free movement of traffic. The decision has brought cheer to the people in general & respite  to the stakeholders/business establishments on out strikes of Jammu city

We had taken up this issue with the hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways wherein we have clearly mentioned that the Expressway from Delhi to Katra nowhere passes through residential area upto Kunjwani, but the Expressway from Kunjwani onwards is passing through the city area disturbing the lakhs of people.

The land use of this area is mainly commercial, varies types of commercial activities in the form of wholesale outlets, Malls, Hospitals, retail outlets, and small-scale services are carried out in this area.

The area from Kunjwani to Narwal encompasses residential and commercial areas, and we believe that a community-friendly pillar-based design for the Expressway Flyover would be more suitable. This modification would not only address the concerns of the local community but also contribute to the overall success of the Expressway project.

Now while acknowledging the gravity of the situation, in a high-level meeting of the National Highway Authority of India presided over by Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highway Sh. Nitin Gadgari Ji the issue has been resolved.
