Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal Urges J&K Govt. to Engage in Dialogue Over Eviction Pressures and Initiate Rehabilitation Efforts for Legacy Units

Economic Sustainment Over Legal Battles: Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal Appeals to Hon’ble Lt. Governor for Personal Intervention to Halt Eviction Proceedings and Enable Revival Initiatives

Jammu, 17-03-2024: In an emergency meeting of the Advisory Committee and Executive Committee along with many other member units of the Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal, Jammu was held under the Chairmanship of its president S. Tejwant Singh Reen wherein entrepreneurs participating in the deliberations strongly resented the J&K  UT move to initiate eviction process for the leased premises both by SICOP & SIDCO of permanently registered units remained functional for over 4 to 5 decades who were forced closed due to reasons beyond their control including withdrawal of marketing support extended to local units through SICOP. Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal is strongly of the view that the UT Govt. through publically notifying through Local Press shall only result in further maligning the status and image of the concerned notified units who would have been making serious efforts to revive/rehabilitate their units without any significant support by UT authorities. Entrepreneurs were formally of the belief that such local units were in the forefront to establish their units mostly in Micro/Small sectors in the very first phase of Industrialization in J&K.

Entrepreneurs present raised their serious concerns that such unwarranted actions shall only result in unwarranted litigations and by such actions J&K authorities have only tried to absolve of their responsibilities to properly revive/rehabilitate the affected units. Members present representing various industrial associations in different industrial estates/areas who attended the meeting were firm of the opinion that J&K Govt. in General and Industries & Commerce Department, in particular, should have taken them in confidence to avoid such publications. Instead J&K Govt. should have constituted a high-level committee ensuring the participation of the industrial representatives to categorize the reasons/causes of their becoming dysfunctional.

Association of Industries(Regd.) Gangyal wish to also draw the attention of J&K Govt. authorities to urgently constitute a high powered committee to review and initiate the revival/rehabilitation process so as to ensure that all the dysfunctional units are satisfactorily made functional through active participation/advice of the various Govt. departments and agencies.

Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal further requests the Hon’ble Lt. Governor to personally intervene in the matter so as to ensure that no further action is initiated till the total revival/ rehabilitation of the impacted units.

Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal also takes this opportunity to seek the intervention of the Hon’ble Lt. Governor, Chief Secretary J&K UT and Commissioner Secretary, Industries & Commerce Department J&K UT to ensure the immediate release of huge amount of nearly Rs. 300 crores of material supplied to various Govt. Departments/agencies the delay of which is bound to further escalate the sickness amongst the impacted units.

Vice President of Association of Industries (Regd.) Gangyal Mr. Sandeep Ohri, Mr. Pardeep Vaid, General Secretary, Mr. Ajay Kumar Mahajan, Secretary, Mr. Vishal Gupta, Treasurer President Birpur Industrial Association Mr. Deepak Dhawan and Mr. Sanjay Chopra Sr. Vice President, Digiana Industrial Association also participated in the deliberation.
