Baldev Singh Billawaria Leads High-Stakes Meeting to Ensure Effective Utilization of Development Funds in Jammu Municipal Corporation
07-11-2023 : Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria Chairs Crucial Meeting regarding the ongoing developmental works of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria led a high-stakes meeting addressing the ongoing developmental initiatives within the JMC alongside the esteemed engineering wing.
The primary agenda included the allocation of funds, amounting to Rs. 70.00 Lacs, earmarked for each ward under the JMC’s purview. Deputy Mayor Jammu, Billawaria emphasized the critical need for these funds to be efficiently utilized for various developmental projects within each ward and urged for their timely completion. In addition to discussing the allocation of funds, the meeting shed light on Public Health Engineering (PHE) issues that have been causing concern among the general public. Deputy Mayor Jammu, Billawaria deliberated on the challenges faced by the residents and deliberated on strategies to address these issues, seeking viable solutions in the interest of public welfare. Deputy Mayor Jammu took review of all the ongoing civil and electrical works of JMC. He discussed the problems faced by the general public like water logging, street lights not working properly due to heavy rains, electric poles not installed in some areas. Rotaries need to be maintained, some new rotaries need to be developed, and some other issues related to JMC. The deputy mayor has insisted on working on the self-finance/Public Private Partnership (PPP) model. Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria said that there should be same pattern for tendering for all the divisions of JMC which include defect liability period and he said that there shall be no compromise with the quality of work and there should be proper coordination between PHE & Civil Departments so that damage to lanes & drains should be minimized. Deputy Mayor Jammu asked Executive Engineer (Electric) JMC to focus on the installation of streetlights as most of the Corporators are facing the shortage of streetlights in their respective wards. Asst. Executive Engineer, (Project Division) gave the details of construction that the construction of Commercial Hall at Jeewan Nagar is in progress and 80% of work has been completed and the cost for the phase Ist is Rs. 05.00 crore (apx.) and estimates for the Phase IInd have been prepared and have been submitted to the Higher Authorities for approval. Deputy Mayor Jammu, Baldev Singh Billawaria also took the reviews from Engg. Departments ongoing projects like Beautification and upgradation of Gumat Bazar and Jambu Lochan Banquet Hall are going to be renovated in the shape of Mall.
During the meeting, Deputy Mayor Billawaria commended and lauded the exceptional efforts and remarkable contributions of the engineering wing of the JMC towards the progress and development of the municipality.
