PATNA, Sept 9: The Bihar government on Wednesday felicitated 168 meritorious students who secured top positions in the 2026 Matriculation and Intermediate examinations conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB).

The felicitation programme was organised in Patna by the state Education Department to recognise students for their performance in the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations. The students attended the ceremony along with their family members.

Under the reward structure, students securing the first position in the respective examinations received a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh. Those finishing second were awarded Rs 1.5 lakh, while third-ranked students received Rs 1 lakh.

Additional awards were also announced for students who finished beyond the top three positions. Intermediate students securing fourth and fifth positions received Rs 30,000 each, while Matriculation students ranked fourth to tenth were given Rs 20,000 each.

Along with the rank-based cash awards, all 168 students being honoured received Rs 51,000 as assistance towards purchasing a laptop. The support is intended to help students access digital resources and continue their higher education.

The programme was attended by senior state government representatives and education officials. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary felicitated the meritorious students and interacted with them during the event.

The state government said the initiative is aimed at recognising academic achievement and encouraging students to pursue further studies. The combination of financial rewards and laptop assistance is also intended to provide practical support as the students move into the next stage of their education.

The recognition comes as Bihar continues to expand measures aimed at supporting students beyond school examinations, including initiatives focused on digital access and academic assistance.
