Bomb Threat Emails Trigger Security Alert at 16 Mohali Schools

Threatening emails sent to multiple schools prompt evacuations and a sweeping security search; no explosives found so far.

Mohali, Feb 11 : A wave of anxiety gripped Mohali on Wednesday after several well-known private schools received bomb threat emails, prompting immediate evacuations and a coordinated security response across the city.

Officials confirmed that at least 16 institutions were targeted. Among the affected campuses were Yadavindra Public School, Learning Paths School, and Shivalik Public School, all of which dismissed students as a precaution while authorities launched detailed inspections.

Superintendent of Police (City) Dilpreet Singh said the threats were reported around 7:30 am, triggering the deployment of nearly 250 personnel, including bomb disposal squads, anti-sabotage teams, and local police units. Senior officers supervised the operation as campuses were sealed off to facilitate thorough searches.

“No suspicious object has been found so far,” the officer stated, adding that classes are expected to resume on Thursday if the premises are declared safe.

The alarming emails reportedly warned of an explosion and contained provocative messages, including threats directed at Parliament later this week. Investigators are working to trace the origin of the emails and identify those responsible.

The development comes shortly after a similar scare in Delhi, where multiple schools received threatening messages earlier this week. Those campuses were also evacuated, and extensive checks were carried out, but authorities did not recover any explosive material.

Security agencies continue to remain on high alert as the investigation progresses, with safety measures intensified to reassure parents, students, and school staff.
