Jammu: 09-08-2025: Today, the Bharat Tibet Sahyog Manch (BTSM) celebrated Raksha Bandhan by tying rakhis (sacred threads) around trees and planting new ones in Jammu. Participants pledged to protect the environment and conserve trees. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of trees and promote environmental consciousness and preservation.
The event, titled “Rakhi for Nature, Trees for Life,” included the tying of traditional rakhis as a symbol of love and protection, followed by a tree plantation drive.
Dr. Vivek Sharma, President of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh UT, stated that the issue of global warming and the release of CO₂ into the atmosphere are harming the environment. As a result, we are witnessing problems such as floods, rising temperatures, and natural disasters in today’s world. It is crucial to find a balance between progress and environmental protection. One meaningful way to achieve this is by tying a rakhi to a tree and making a promise to protect it.
Furthermore, Vivek Sharma stated that we would raise awareness about the importance of environmental conservation. He emphasized that we will work with a mission to ensure our message reaches every corner of India.
Among those present on this occasion were Dr. Rohit Sadotra, Mr. Majid, and others.
