Ceasefire Talks Intensify as Gaza Conflict Triggers Fresh Humanitarian Alarm
International mediators push for hostage release and aid access amid escalating violence
GAZA CITY, May 22: Fresh diplomatic efforts are underway to secure a ceasefire in the ongoing Gaza conflict as humanitarian agencies warned that conditions inside the Palestinian territory are deteriorating rapidly.
International mediators including Qatar, Egypt and the United States intensified negotiations aimed at securing a temporary truce, facilitating hostage exchanges and increasing humanitarian aid deliveries into Gaza.
Hospitals in Gaza continue to struggle with shortages of medicines, food, fuel and clean drinking water as thousands of displaced families remain trapped in overcrowded shelters. Aid organisations have warned that malnutrition among children is rising at an alarming pace.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military said operations are continuing against militant infrastructure, while international pressure has mounted on all parties to reduce civilian casualties and ensure humanitarian corridors remain open.
The United Nations reiterated calls for immediate protection of civilians and unrestricted humanitarian access to affected areas.
