Centre must restore Statehood without any further delay by introducing the bill in ongoing parliament session: Rattan Lal Gupta

Jammu, 06 August: Advocate Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu & Kashmir National Conference, has reiterated the demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, urging the Central Government to fulfill its commitment at the earliest.

Rattan Lal Gupta expressed concern over the continued delay of restoration of Statehood despite repeated assurances from the Centre. “The Prime Minister and Home Minister keep saying statehood will be restored at an appropriate time, but now it is the most appropriate time to restore statehood to J&K and respect the massive mandate of the people of Jammu and Kashmir by introducing the bill in the ongoing parliament session.

Mr Rattan Lal Gupta lauded the achievements of the government during its nine months in office. He said that several poll promises made with people during the Assembly polls have been fulfilled by the present dispensation in just 9 months of governance. He said that the administration under CM Omar Abdullah has brought transparency, accountability, and a much-needed sense of direction to the governance in the Union Territory.

 Welcoming Iqbal Khullar into the party fold, Rattan Lal Gupta described the National Conference as a mass movement that has all along stood for the just cause of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and strived for development and progress of the J&K  with a sense of commitment.  He hoped that with the joining of Iqbal Khullar the party would be further strengthened at the grass roots level.

Speaking on the occasion, Sheikh Bashir Ahmad Provincial Secretary Jammu and Vijay Lochan, Chairman of JKNC SC Cell, they lauded the National Conference’s historic role in safeguarding the interests of depressed classes. They said that while the previous regime overlooked the SC community’s concerns, NC remains steadfast in its commitment to their upliftment.

Mr Iqbal Khullar pledged to carry forward the mission of the National Conference in transforming Jammu and Kashmir into a peaceful and progressive area with devotion and dedication.
