CII J&K Delegation Meets Director of Industries & Commerce to Address Industrial Development Concerns
20-07-2023 : A delegation from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Jammu and Kashmir, led by Mr. Archit Puri, Chairman of CII J&K, along with other members of the CII J&K UT Council, met with Mr. Kishore Singh Chib, Director of Industries & Commerce, Jammu. The meeting, held recently, focused on addressing various critical issues related to industrial development and ease of doing business in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
During the discussions, the delegation raised concerns regarding the extension of provisional registration to industrial units under the New Policy. This issue has been a significant point of contention for the industry, and CII representatives emphasized the need for clarity and streamlined processes in this regard. Additionally, the delegation highlighted the challenges faced by industrial units in relation to court fees and stamp duty, as per SRO 241, concerning the collateral offered to banks. These financial burdens have been posing obstacles to the growth and expansion of industrial enterprises in the region.
In response, Mr. Kishore Singh Chib, the Director of Industries & Commerce, Jammu, acknowledged the importance of resolving these pressing issues faced by the industrial sector. He assured the delegation that the department would take proactive steps to address and alleviate these challenges. By working collaboratively with industries, the Department of Industries and Commerce aims to find viable solutions that promote a conducive environment for business growth and sustainability.
During the meeting, Mr. Kishore Singh Chib requested CII J&K to submit detailed representations, providing comprehensive insights into the highlighted problems related to the extension of provisional registration and the issues with court fees and stamp duty. Mr. Archit Puri, Chairman of CII J&K, assured the director that the organization would diligently prepare and submit the renewed representations, elaborating on the specific challenges faced by industrial units.
