Congress’s Mula Ram Mobilizes Public Against BJP’s Policies
Mula Ram Calls for Change: Teach BJP a Lesson in Elections
Jammu, Sept 21: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Mula Ram, addressing a series of public meetings at Khanpur, Sari, Raipur, Dei Chak, Sarora, Bhagat Pur, Bhadore, Basti Sari, Lal Din Chak, and Shahpur in Marh Block, urged the people to hold the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accountable in the upcoming Assembly elections. He sharply criticized the BJP-led Central Government for failing to fulfill its promises, especially in Jammu and Kashmir, and highlighted several issues that have become a burden on the common people.
Mula Ram spoke passionately about the abrogation of Article 370, calling it a setback rather than a step towards progress. He argued that instead of bringing the promised development and jobs, the situation in the region has deteriorated. He emphasized that the removal of Article 370, which was portrayed as a move to usher in prosperity, has failed to benefit the local population. The promises made at the time have not materialized, leaving the people disillusioned.
He also criticized the imposition of property tax and the rise in toll taxes, describing these measures as additional burdens on the already struggling people of Jammu and Kashmir. According to Mula Ram, these taxes have only worsened the financial situation of the local populace, further disconnecting the BJP government from the ground realities. The BJP’s economic policies, he said, are out of touch with the needs and concerns of the common people, and the imposition of these levies has only deepened the mistrust between the people and the ruling party.
One of the key points in Mula Ram’s critique was the BJP’s failure to address unemployment in Jammu and Kashmir. The BJP had promised to create 10 lakh jobs for the youth of the region, but this pledge, he argued, has turned out to be yet another false promise or “jumla.” He noted that instead of job creation, there has been an unprecedented rise in joblessness. This growing unemployment, combined with a lack of meaningful employment opportunities, has pushed many young people towards despair.
Adding to the problem of unemployment, Mula Ram highlighted the rising menace of drug abuse and addiction among the youth. He argued that the BJP’s poor governance and lack of focus on social issues have allowed the drug problem to flourish. With no adequate policies to address this growing issue, many of the region’s young people are being led towards a bleak future, caught between joblessness and addiction.
The installation of smart meters was another focal point of Mula Ram’s speech. He said that the introduction of these meters has led to inflated electricity bills, causing widespread public dissatisfaction. Already facing financial difficulties due to property tax and other levies, the people of Jammu and Kashmir are further burdened by the smart meters, which have only added to their woes. Mula Ram criticized the BJP for ignoring the public outcry and failing to alleviate the suffering of the people.
In his closing remarks, Mula Ram stressed that the time had come for the people of Jammu and Kashmir to hold the BJP accountable. He urged them to teach the party a lesson for betraying their trust and for enacting policies that have proven to be anti-people. He expressed hope that the electorate would recognize the BJP’s failures and vote for change in the upcoming elections.
Accompanying Mula Ram at these public meetings were senior Congress leaders Madan Lal Bhagat, Th Hari Singh Chib, Jeet Choudhary, Darshan Bhagat, Bal Krishan, Saudagar Saini, Dr. Gopal, Col. Som Nath Dogra, Sat Pal Saini, and Varinder Lakhotra. These leaders echoed Mula Ram’s sentiments, standing in solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and calling for a united effort to bring about positive change in the region.
