Jammu, 12-01-2024: A delegation led by Sunil Prajapati, President BJP OBC Morcha, J&K UT, met Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary, J&K UT Govt and apprised him regarding the issues of OBCs.
Prajapati, apprised the Chief Secretary regarding that some of the OBC aspirants who have been selected as Sub Inspector/JE/BLW against the reserve vacancies of OBCs under Social Caste (OSC) category, advertised during 2021, are facing difficulties in their final selection as J&K Service Selection Board (J&K SSB) has objected that their OBC certificates cannot be considered for the posts reserved for OSC categories. Whereas, these OBC certificates of the aspirant candidates were considered by the J&K SSB at the initial stage and accordingly their selection examinations and other formalities completed for the reserve posts. Aggrieved candidates also approached the concerned Tehsildars and Deputy Commissioner, were were assured that during the relevant period, the issuing Authorities did not issue any OSC certificate but OBC certificates only. Such an objection at this juncture, when the candidates have been selected andare in the merit against the reserve vacancies under OSC Category, will cause irreplaceable loss. Accordingly Sunil Prajapati requested the Chief Secretary that issue of OBC aspirants who have been selected and are in the merit against the reserve vacancies under Social Caste Category may be considered favourably so that their future is not put to suffer.
Prajapati, welcoming the decision of J&K UT Govt for considering reservation for OBCs in Panchayats by amending the Panchayati Raj Act 1989, also extended gratitudes to the J&K UT Govt and Lt Governor for considering reservation for OBCs in Panchayat elections. He also requested the Chief Secretary for considering the reservation for OBCs in Municipalities at the earliest.
Prajapati further requested the Chief Secretary that a large number of vacancies in various J&K Govt Departments, which are likely to be advertised, may be withheld till OBC reservation, as approved by the Parliament is implemented in J&K UT, so that Justice is provided to the OBC category and the OBC aspirants get the due reservation as per population ratio, otherwise OBCs in J&K are granted 4% reservation under the Social Caste category, which is great injustice. Accordingly, Prajapati requested that all future vacancies be withheld and advertised after notifying the OBC reservation in the UT as approved by the Parliament, otherwise the OBCs in J&K will suffer an irreplaceable loss.
Delegation accompanied by Raj kumar Tarkhan (General Secretary BJP OBC Morcha), Suresh Salgotra (Vice President BJP OBC Morcha), Ashok Salgotra (District President Jammu OBC Morcha), Onkar Verma (Mandal President OBC’ Morcha).
