06-07-2023 : An employee of the R&B (Roads and Buildings) department in Bandipora, Jammu and Kashmir, was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on charges of accepting a bribe. The accused, identified as Ghulam Nabi Wani, was apprehended red-handed while accepting a sum of Rs. 28,000.
According to reliable sources, a complaint was received by the ACB, prompting them to register a First Information Report (FIR) under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, at the Police Station ACB North Wing. Subsequently, an investigation was initiated into the matter.
A trap team was formed to apprehend the accused. The team meticulously planned and executed the operation, resulting in the successful capture of Ghulam Nabi Wani, who was caught accepting the bribe amount of Rs. 28,000 on the spot. The bribe money was recovered in the presence of independent witnesses.
Following the arrest, the accused was taken to the police station, where he is currently being held. The investigation into the case is ongoing, and further inquiries will be conducted to gather evidence and ascertain the extent of the alleged corruption.
