Delhi CM Calls on Amit Shah, Reviews Development Plans for National Capital
Rekha Gupta says the Union Home Minister shared valuable guidance on governance, public welfare and Delhi’s future development plans.
NEW DELHI, Aug 19: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a courtesy visit and discussed key issues concerning the development and governance of the national capital.
Gupta said the meeting provided an opportunity to seek Shah’s guidance on good governance, public welfare initiatives and priorities for Delhi’s future growth.
In a post on X, the chief minister said Shah’s experience and suggestions on ensuring that welfare measures reach the last person in society were highly valuable. She also said his vision for making Delhi a benchmark for development was inspiring.
Gupta appreciated Shah’s commitment to public service and said his dedication to the nation continues to motivate others to perform their duties with greater determination. She also thanked the Home Minister for his time, guidance and continued support for Delhi.
Sources said Shah regularly reviews major development related works in the national capital, with particular attention being given to efforts aimed at cleaning and rejuvenating the Yamuna.
The issue of Yamuna restoration remains an important priority for the Delhi government, with various initiatives being undertaken to improve the river’s condition and address pollution-related concerns.
The chief minister has previously held meetings with Shah to discuss issues facing the city and seek guidance on their resolution. Such interactions are also aimed at maintaining effective coordination between the Delhi government and the Centre.
Delhi is currently being governed under what the BJP describes as a “triple engine government”, with the Centre, Delhi government and the municipal administration working towards accelerating development and improving public services across the capital.
The latest meeting is expected to further strengthen coordination on governance, welfare delivery and infrastructure projects, while keeping the city’s broader development priorities at the centre of the administration’s agenda.
