JAMMU, FEB 9: Taranjit Singh Tony Chairman Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu and Kashmir for Administrative Engagement and Minority Affairs, and District Development Council (DDC) Member Suchetgarh has strongly condemned the present Union Territory Administration for its destructive policies that are anti people, anti youth, anti farmers and anti-employment. He said that it is quite shameful for the Administration that instead of addressing the burning issues of unemployment, farmers’ welfare, inflation, etc it is rendering the small and petty land holders homeless besides depriving them of livelihood from petty businesses. He demanded that LG must leave all significant and controversial matters to be decided by the democratically elected Govt in J&K.
The AAP leader expressed this while addressing a gathering of people during his extensive tour of Langar Colony in Kunjwani area here today.
Expressing utmost anguish and resentment against the Administration for going ahead with its anti-encroachment drive, Tony said that the anti-encroachment teams have now started entering the fields of farmers despite the promise made by none other than the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha himself that no one will touch the small farmers and petty shopkeepers during the ongoing drive. He alleged that the drives were initially aimed at retrieving the Roshni scam land but now it seems to have encompassed everyone in this Union Territory despite people holding the possession of such lands for long duration of time i.e. between50 to 100 years. He further alleged that Govt is taking action against the innocent people that too without providing them the opportunity of fair hearing which is a blatant violation of the principles of natural justice.
The senior AAP leader said that fake lists of encroached lands is being circulated in social media to create fear and panic among the common people but it is an ironic that the Govt prefers to maintain criminal silence on the issue. He said that highhandedness of the authorities in Administration can be well gauged from the fact that Govt has been installing boards even on farmers’ fields on State land that too without affording them any opportunity of being heard.
Alleging that Administration is trying to deviate the attention of the people from its failures and huge corruption going on in the UT in the garb of eviction drives, the senior AAP leader asserted that such stubborn and anti-people attitude of the Govt is definitely going to uproot the Bharatiya Janata Party and its government. He appealed to the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to leave all the significant and controversial matters and issues to be decided by the duly elected democratic Govt.
Later, Tony interacted with people of the area and listened to their issues. He assured to redress the issues putforth by the people by taking it with the authorities concerned.
