Dhurandhar 2: Akshaye Khanna wraps shoot as Aditya Dhar locks trailer ahead of March 19 release
Rumours of Akshaye Khanna returning to the sets are false as director Aditya Dhar focuses on post-production and trailer edit.
Mumbai, Jan 16 : Speculation around Akshaye Khanna returning to the sets of Dhurandhar 2 has been doing the rounds online, but reports now confirm that the actor is not filming any new scenes for the sequel.
According to sources cited by Pinkvilla, Khanna’s role in the Ranveer Singh-starrer was completed during the film’s earlier schedules and is limited to select flashback portions crucial to the narrative.
“There is no additional filming happening with Akshaye at the moment. His portions were wrapped earlier and are part of key flashback moments,” a source said, dismissing rumours of his return to the set.
While Khanna remains away from filming, work on Dhurandhar 2 is progressing at full pace behind the scenes. Director Aditya Dhar is currently focused on post-production and is said to be personally overseeing the trailer edit, which is expected to be unveiled by the end of February.
Music and sound design are also receiving significant attention, with composer Shashwat Sachdev working on the background score to enhance the film’s action heavy sequences. Sources indicate that both visuals and sound are being fine tuned to deliver a high-impact cinematic experience.
Dhurandhar 2 is scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19, 2026. The sequel follows the massive success of Dhurandhar, which released on December 5, 2025, and featured an ensemble cast including Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal and Rakesh Bedi, emerging as a major box office hit.
