Dogri Poetry Book “Gandaa Jaa Banjara” by J.S. Pardesi Released by Nami Dogri Sanstha at K.L. Sehgal Hall

Jammu,01-04-2025: Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS) released a Dogri poetry book penned by J.S. Pardesi at K.L. Sehgal Hall, celebrating his literary contributions. On this occasion, NDS honored the poet with the prestigious “Duggar Di Awaaz” Sanstha Sammaan.

The event was presided over by Om Vidyarathi, IFS (Retd) and Sahitya Akademi Awardee, with Shaminder Kumar, former Director of Radio Jalandhar, as the Chief Guest. Shalinder Singh, Sahitya Akademi Awardee, and SSP Railways were the Guests of Honour, while Manisha Sharma and Bachan Bhagat, both Assistant Directors at Radio Jammu, graced the occasion as Special Guests. Prithvi Raj Sharma, a renowned Duggar music composer, attended as a Special Invitee.

Dr. Radha Rani, Assistant Professor in Dogri, presented a comprehensive paper on the book, highlighting its literary significance. Speaking on the occasion, Capt. Lalit Sharma, IFS (Convener, NDS), compared Pardesi’s poetry to the works of William Wordsworth, emphasizing its deep connection with nature.

Om Vidyarathi described the book as a masterpiece of Dogri poetry and an inspiration for young poets. Shaminder Kumar stressed the need for a passionate approach to preserving the Dogri language and Duggar culture. Shalinder Singh lauded the book’s poetic essence and its rich vocabulary.

Madhvi Sharma, a veteran radio announcer, praised J.S. Pardesi as a broadcaster and a compassionate human being. Bachan Bhagat described him as an exceptional personality, while Manisha Sharma recalled his invaluable mentorship in her early career. Prithvi Raj Sharma noted that Pardesi’s poetry carries an inherent musical charm.

J.S. Pardesi, after serving in the Army for seven years, joined All India Radio Jammu, where his dedication and talent earned him the position of Programme Executive. His newly released book comprises 107 lyrical poems reflecting his deep love for his motherland and the essence of Duggar culture.

The event saw a large gathering of prominent Duggar personalities, including art critic and journalist Kulbhushan Singh Jamwal. The proceedings were conducted by Yash Pal Yash, General Secretary, NDS. Dr. Chanchal Sharma Shreeza, Editor (Hindi) of the Academy and Organizing Secretary, NDS, delivered the vote of thanks.
