DTU Introduces Data Science, Statistics and Future Focused Degree Programmes
Delhi Technological University expands its academic portfolio with new interdisciplinary courses and international study options
NEW DELHI, July 11: Delhi Technological University (DTU) has announced several new academic programmes aimed at strengthening education in emerging technologies, data driven disciplines and interdisciplinary learning from the 2026–27 academic session.
The university will introduce integrated BSc-MSc programmes in Data Science and Applied Statistics, giving students an opportunity to pursue advanced study in fields increasingly linked to technology, research and industry.
DTU has also introduced an Economics double-major option for BTech students. The initiative is designed to allow engineering students to combine technical education with expertise in economics and develop a broader academic profile.
The university is further expanding international academic opportunities through a 4+1 accelerated BTech-MS programme in collaboration with the University of Houston in the United States. Eligible students will be able to complete their undergraduate studies at DTU before pursuing an MS programme at the partner university, subject to admission requirements and credit-transfer provisions.
DTU is also planning additional programmes in emerging technology areas. New BTech courses in Mechanical and Automation Engineering are scheduled from the 2026–27 session, while programmes in Computer Science and Engineering and Quantum Technology are planned for 2027–28.
The expansion comes as universities increasingly broaden their academic offerings to address demand for specialised skills in data analytics, automation, computing and advanced technologies.
The new courses are expected to give students more flexibility in selecting multidisciplinary pathways while strengthening DTU’s focus on technology-oriented higher education.
The university’s latest academic expansion also reflects the growing emphasis on combining traditional engineering education with emerging fields and international exposure.
