During Cordon and Search Operation; Two High-Ranking Officers Injured in Kokernag, Jammu and Kashmir

13-09-2023 : During an anti-militancy operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district, two senior officers, one from the Army and the other from the police, sustained injuries, as reported by officials on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in Kokarnag when joint forces were conducting a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the vicinity. The encounter was initiated when terrorists opened fire upon the security personnel while they were establishing the cordon.

One official stated, “As the cordon was being established, the terrorists opened fire, resulting in injuries to both an Army officer and a police officer.” Subsequently, both injured officers were swiftly evacuated to a medical facility for treatment.

According to police sources, these officers, representing the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir police, were wounded during the encounter.

The police department posted information about the incident on Twitter, stating, “An encounter has commenced in the Kokernag area of Anantnag. Officers from the Army and JKP have sustained injuries.”

The operation in the Kokernag area is currently ongoing, with additional reinforcements being dispatched to the area to support the ongoing efforts.
