Facebook, Reliance Announce Rs 855 Crore Investment in AI Joint Venture
New subsidiary REIL to leverage Meta’s Llama models and Reliance’s digital reach to offer AI solutions for businesses across India.
Mumbai, Oct 26: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced the formation of a step down subsidiary, Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL), to invest in enterprise level artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in India.
The joint venture will be held in a 70:30 ratio between Reliance Intelligence Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of RIL) and Facebook Worldwide Inc. The partners have committed an initial investment of Rs 855 crore, with Reliance contributing Rs 2 crore towards the initial subscription of 20 lakh equity shares of Rs 10 each.
As per the regulatory filing, REIL will develop, market, and distribute enterprise AI services, combining Meta’s Llama open-source models with Reliance’s extensive digital infrastructure and enterprise network.
The partnership will focus on two key offerings:
An enterprise AI platform as a service allowing organisations to customise and deploy generative AI models.
A suite of pre-configured AI solutions for sales, marketing, IT operations, customer service, and finance.
Meta will provide technical expertise in building Llama based AI models, while Reliance will leverage its digital ecosystem and reach to thousands of Indian enterprises and small businesses. The AI solutions will be deployable across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, with an emphasis on reducing the total cost of ownership.
The joint venture, first announced at RIL’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in August 2025, marks a major step in AI adoption for Indian enterprises, combining global AI technology with domestic market access.
