Faridabad: Police Foil Major Terror Plot, Seize 360 Kg Explosives and Assault Rifle in NCR Raid

Jammu & Kashmir Police and IB uncover ammonium nitrate and ammunition in Delhi-NCR, averting potential large scale attack

Faridabad, Nov 10: A possible catastrophic terror attack was averted after Jammu & Kashmir Police, in coordination with the Intelligence Bureau, recovered around 360 kilograms of inflammable material and a cache of ammunition from a rented residence in Dhauj village, Faridabad, Delhi-NCR.

The explosives were found at the home of Dr. Mujahil Shakil, a student at Al Falah Medical College from Jammu & Kashmir. He had rented the property three months ago, police said. Shakil was apprehended on October 30 following the arrest of Dr. Adil Ahmad Rather, another suspect linked to the same alleged terror network. Both are believed to be part of a larger module with potential cross-border connections, reportedly planning attacks in northern India.

A police search is ongoing for a third doctor allegedly involved in the network who remains absconding. Earlier, a rifle was recovered from a locker belonging to one of the doctors at Government Medical College, Anantnag.

The Faridabad Police Commissioner, Satender Kumar Gupta, confirmed the haul included around 360 kg of ammonium nitrate (not RDX as initially reported), 20 timers, batteries, a Kalashnikov assault rifle with three magazines and 83 live rounds, a pistol with eight rounds, and other equipment.

“This operation, jointly conducted by J&K Police and the Intelligence Bureau with local police assistance, is a major breakthrough that may have prevented a catastrophic attack,” Gupta said.

Dr. Shakil, brought to Faridabad on Sunday for the recovery operation, assisted authorities in identifying and seizing the hidden explosives. All recovered materials have been sent for forensic examination, and intelligence agencies are probing the network’s funding and cross-border links.

Officials noted that the ammonium nitrate and related materials could have been used to create multiple high-intensity IEDs capable of causing large-scale destruction. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is expected to join the ongoing probe.
