Farooq Abdullah: Hope Big Powers Ensure There Is No World War III Amid Iran-Israel Tensions

Farooq Abdullah Warns of Global Catastrophe, Seeks Diplomatic Intervention in Iran-Israel War

SRINAGAR, Oct 2: Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah expressed grave concern on Wednesday, calling for global powers to intervene and prevent the outbreak of a potential third World War. As violence intensifies between Iran and Israel, with escalating hostilities on both sides, Abdullah emphasized the need for immediate de-escalation and peaceful resolution, highlighting the catastrophic consequences that continued conflict could bring.

“I sincerely hope the big powers of the world will step in to ensure that there is no World War III. People are dying on both sides, and humanity is suffering. It is heartbreaking to witness such destruction, not just here but also in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war,” Abdullah remarked. His statement underscored the deepening humanitarian crises resulting from prolonged and unresolved conflicts, stressing that, “Humanity seems to have been lost in the midst of all this bloodshed. May God restore compassion and peace to the world.”

The conflict in West Asia has escalated dramatically after Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles towards Israeli targets, prompting a swift response from the United States military, which has been coordinating closely with the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) to help defend against the attacks. This flare-up in violence has not only threatened regional stability but also increased fears of wider international involvement, drawing attention from global powers concerned about the potential fallout of such an explosive situation.

With the war between Russia and Ukraine already destabilizing parts of Europe and creating global geopolitical tensions, the added instability in the Middle East is a worrying development. The National Conference leader’s remarks aim to remind world leaders of their responsibility to intervene diplomatically before the conflict spirals further out of control.

Meanwhile, shifting focus back to domestic politics, Farooq Abdullah also expressed optimism regarding the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. Confident in the strength of the Congress-NC alliance, he predicted a significant victory for the coalition, with hopes of forming the next government in the Union Territory. “We are sure that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have shown their trust in us, and we will emerge victorious in these elections,” Abdullah stated. He attributed the potential success to the strong partnership between the Congress and the National Conference, which he believes resonates with the electorate’s desire for stability and progress in the region.
