Ram Temple Donation Controversy a Matter of Shame, Says Nripendra Mishra: “We Feel Deeply Humiliated”

Ram Temple Construction Committee Chairman says corrective steps will be taken to strengthen temple administration, while final construction work enters its concluding phase in Ayodhya

Ayodhya, July 11: The controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in Ram Temple donations has deeply affected the temple administration, with Ram Temple Construction Committee Chairman Nripendra Mishra describing the incident as a serious setback and a matter of embarrassment for everyone associated with the project.

Speaking to reporters in Ayodhya on Saturday, Mishra said the allegations of donation theft were unfortunate and had created a sense of disappointment among devotees and those involved in the temple’s management. However, he expressed confidence that necessary reforms would be introduced to strengthen the administrative framework and prevent similar incidents in the future.

Mishra was in Ayodhya for the ongoing meeting of the Ram Temple Construction Committee, where discussions focused on both the temple’s management structure and the progress of remaining construction activities.

Management Reforms to Prevent Future Issues

Addressing concerns over the donation controversy, Mishra said the matter was now linked to improving the temple’s operational system. He indicated that the trust would focus on introducing stronger monitoring mechanisms and administrative safeguards.

According to him, the priority would be ensuring greater transparency and accountability in temple-related activities, especially those connected with donations and financial management.

The construction committee chairman had earlier advocated for the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the temple trust to ensure professional administration.

Selection Process Underway for Temple Trust CEO

Mishra informed that a high-level panel has already been constituted to recommend a suitable candidate for the post of CEO.

A committee headed by a retired judge has been assigned the responsibility of evaluating potential candidates and submitting recommendations to the temple trust. The final decision regarding the appointment will be taken by the trust members.

There have been reports suggesting that the trust could consider appointing a woman as CEO, though Mishra avoided commenting on speculation surrounding the appointment.

He said the selection process was being handled by the designated committee and the trust would take the final call after receiving recommendations.

Temple Trust to Discuss Future Administrative Measures

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is expected to hold another meeting on July 22 to discuss measures aimed at improving the temple’s management structure.

The meeting is likely to focus on strengthening administrative procedures and ensuring that the temple’s growing responsibilities are handled through a more organised system.

Mishra said he was not aware of the detailed agenda of the upcoming meeting but indicated that management improvements would remain an important area of discussion.

Construction Work Nears Completion

Apart from the management concerns, Mishra also reviewed the progress of various construction projects linked to the Ram Temple complex.

He said the work on the old temple structure, which is being developed as a memorial, is almost complete. The remaining task involves arrangements for maintaining a continuous flame that will burn around the clock.

The main memorial structure is also expected to be completed soon, marking the conclusion of the final phase of the temple’s primary construction work.

Mishra said the major temple construction activities are expected to be completed by July 30.

Additional Projects to Continue Until Year-End

While the main construction work is nearing completion, several supporting projects around the temple complex will continue for the next few months.

These include the construction of a four-kilometre boundary wall and development work related to an auditorium outside the main temple area.

According to Mishra, these projects are expected to be completed between November and December.

Ram Katha Museum Development Progress

The Ram Katha Museum is another major project being developed as part of the broader temple complex.

Mishra said the museum will feature 20 galleries showcasing the story and cultural significance associated with Lord Ram.

The storyline and conceptual framework for the museum have already been finalised. Discussions are currently underway to determine the final format of video presentations and other digital content that will be included in the galleries.

The museum is expected to become an important attraction for visitors by combining cultural history with modern presentation techniques.

Focus on Long-Term Temple Administration

The donation controversy has highlighted the increasing need for a professional management system as the number of visitors and devotees continues to rise after the temple’s opening.

The trust is now looking at strengthening administrative processes to handle responsibilities related to:

Financial management
Visitor services
Security coordination
Maintenance activities
Cultural projects
Public facilities

Officials believe that a structured management system will help maintain transparency and improve the overall experience for devotees.

Committee Reviews Temple Development Plans

During the first day of the committee meeting, Mishra reviewed ongoing construction activities and assessed the status of various projects.

Trust officials, including interim general secretary Krishna Mohan, also participated in discussions related to the temple’s future functioning and development plans.

The committee is expected to continue reviewing construction progress and administrative issues during its meetings.

Moving Towards a More Transparent System

The Ram Temple project holds immense religious and cultural significance, attracting devotees from across India and abroad. With increasing public attention, officials associated with the temple trust have emphasised the importance of maintaining a transparent and efficient system.

Mishra’s remarks indicate that the trust is preparing to strengthen its internal mechanisms while completing the remaining infrastructure projects.

The focus now remains on ensuring that the temple administration reflects the expectations of millions of devotees and maintains public confidence in the historic project.
