20-02-2023 : Farooq Abdullah, the National Conference president, stated on Monday that the decision to reduce the Army’s presence in Jammu and Kashmir is solely in the hands of the government. When questioned about a media report suggesting that the government may gradually withdraw the Army from the hinterland in Kashmir, the Lok Sabha member from Srinagar told reporters at the National Conference headquarters that he had no say in the matter.
Regarding the government’s alleged decision to “halt” the demolition drive in the union territory, the former chief minister reacted by stating that “it was due to the opposition of the people.” He added that this happened because people made noise, and if they hadn’t, the government would have intensified the drive. Farooq Abdullah advised the people to remember that they have the power to shake the government.
