Federation of Industries, Jammu Calls for Immediate Policy Support to Revive Industrial Sector

Jammu, 03-07-2026: A meeting of the Federation of Industries, Jammu (FOIJ) was convened under the chairmanship of Sh. Virendra Jain, with all Co-Chairmen S/Sh. Tarun Singla, Jatinder Aul, Gagan Jain, Ajit Bawa, Sachin Kapoor Secretary General and Sanjay Langar Convenor in attendance. The meeting focused on the pressing issues confronting the industrial sector in Jammu and the urgent need for policy interventions to restore industrial growth and investor confidence.

The Federation extended a warm welcome to the newly elected office bearers of the Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) led by Sh. Tarun Singla. FOIJ also welcomed Sh. Tarun Singla as the Co-Chairman of FOIJ and Sh. Sachin Kapoor as the Secretary General of FOIJ, expressing confidence that their leadership will further strengthen the Federation’s efforts towards industrial development.

During the deliberations, members expressed grave concern over the prolonged slowdown affecting industrial activities in Jammu. The Federation unanimously resolved to intensify its efforts with the Government for the formulation and implementation of a comprehensive, industry-friendly policy aimed at protecting existing industrial units and encouraging fresh investments.

FOIJ appealed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Sh. Manoj Sinha, and the Hon’ble Chief Minister, Jenab Omar Abdullah, to take immediate and decisive steps for the revival of the industrial sector.

The Federation highlighted the following key demands:

  • Extension of Turnover Incentive for industrial units.
  • Extension of SGST reimbursement under S.O. 63 to industrial units undertaking substantial expansion, modernization, diversification, or addition line of manufacturing.
  • Immediate implementation of the Capital Interest Subvention Scheme from the State Budget.
  • Enhanced marketing support for Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs) to improve their competitiveness and sustain operations.

FOIJ also strongly urged the Government to allow the conversion of leasehold industrial land into freehold without imposing any additional conversion charges. The Federation pointed out that the Government has already recovered the cost of land from entrepreneurs through premium charges, and the prevailing land rates outside the industrial estate at the time of allotment were broadly equivalent to the amount of premium charged from the entrepreneurs.

Therefore, levying any further conversion fee would impose an unwarranted financial burden on industrial units.

The Federation appealed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor and the Hon’ble Chief Minister to personally intervene and facilitate the early implementation of these measures, which are essential for safeguarding existing industries, generating employment, attracting new investments, and accelerating the economic growth of Jammu and Kashmir.
