“For BCCI, Nation Always Comes First: Arun Dhumal”

IPL chairman Arun Dhumal congratulates Team India on Asia Cup victory, reiterates BCCI’s alignment with government policy on India-Pakistan cricket ties.

New Delhi, Oct 1: Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Arun Dhumal has praised Team India for their dominant performance in the recently concluded Asia Cup final against Pakistan, saying the Men in Blue proved once again that they are the best T20I side in the world.

“Reaching the top is easy, but maintaining that position is very difficult. India was the No. 1 team in T20s, and the way they performed brilliantly throughout the tournament, winning all matches convincingly, I want to congratulate the Indian team for that. Special congratulations to Suryakumar Yadav and the entire team for showing the world they are the best,” Dhumal told IANS.

On the possibility of an India-Pakistan bilateral series, Dhumal made it clear that the BCCI will always stand by the Government of India’s decision. “It is the government’s call, and we fully support it. For the BCCI, the country comes first, cricket comes next,” he said.

Dhumal also downplayed the hype around India-Pakistan encounters, noting that today’s contests lack the star power of the past. “Earlier, players like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, and Shoaib Akhtar gave Pakistan an edge. Today, matches against England, Australia, or New Zealand are far more competitive. The media creates unnecessary hype because of political tensions,” he added.

He further emphasized India’s unmatched talent pool, saying, “Our squad is capable of beating any of the world’s best teams. No other country has the depth of talent that we do. This should make us proud, and we must continue appreciating the players for their outstanding performances.”
