Former J&K Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad Denounces Communal Politics, Vows DPAP’s Commitment to Unity and Equal Service
Jammu, 16-02-2024 : Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and chairman of DPAP, Ghulam Nabi Azad, made a firm declaration today, stating that his party is committed to serving all communities regardless of their caste or religion, countering what he described as attempts by certain political factions to sow communal divisions for electoral gain.
Addressing a gathering of party workers at Sunderbani in Rajouri district, Azad stressed the importance of unity among people from diverse backgrounds and called for collective efforts to secure victories in both the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Wrapping up his five-day tour of Rajouri and Poonch, Azad expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic reception received during his public engagements, citing the trust placed in his party’s governance record at the state and national levels.
Azad reiterated his party’s dedication to inclusivity, emphasizing that DPAP remains steadfast in its commitment to serve all communities, irrespective of religious or caste affiliations. He disclosed that despite tempting offers from various political entities for a Rajya Sabha seat, he opted to prioritize his constituents and return to his roots.
The former Chief Minister outlined a comprehensive development agenda, pledging to focus on initiatives such as establishing colleges, enhancing infrastructure including roads and healthcare facilities, and generating employment opportunities. Azad highlighted DPAP’s stance against the controversial land eviction order, advocating fiercely for the rights of affected communities. He recounted his personal intervention with the Governor and Home Minister, which resulted in halting the eviction process.
Azad underscored his vocal opposition to the revocation of Article 370 in Parliament, contrasting it with the silence of other political parties. He criticized those who engage in what he termed as “befooling people” and emphasized the importance of electing leaders based on their track record of tangible achievements and their commitment to future progress, rather than indulging in religiously charged politics.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including GM Saroori, RS Chib, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Anita Thakur, Salman Nizami, Sunita Arora, Riyaz Naz, Arun Sharma, BP Singh, and others.
