GDC Dudu Basantgarh Holds Awareness Lecture on PM Internship Scheme to Empower Youth with Employability Skills

Dated: 09-04-2025 | Dudu-Basantgarh: In a step toward empowering students with practical knowledge and employment readiness, Government Degree College (GDC) Dudu Basantgarh organized an awareness lecture on the Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) under its Pilot Project framework. The event aimed at familiarizing undergraduate students with the vision, scope, and benefits of the scheme introduced by the Government of India.

The lecture was delivered by Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Assistant Professor in English, who eloquently elaborated on the various aspects of the internship scheme. He detailed the key features of the PMIS, including eligibility criteria, the application process, benefits of participation, and selection mechanisms. Dr. Singh emphasized that the scheme is designed to offer meaningful exposure to real-time work environments, thus helping students gain relevant skills that bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and industry demands.

Urging the students to be proactive, Dr. Singh encouraged all interested and eligible candidates to register themselves on the official PMIS portal without delay. He described the scheme as a valuable opportunity for skill enhancement, especially for students from rural and remote areas like Dudu-Basantgarh. He also commended the Government of India for launching such forward-thinking initiatives aimed at uplifting educated but unemployed youth and promoting a culture of experiential learning.

Dr. Singh further added that schemes like the PMIS can play a vital role in preparing the young generation for the dynamic demands of modern job markets, promoting self-reliance and professional growth among youth across the country.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation not only from students but also from the teaching faculty. Among those present were Dr. Vijay Kumar, Dr. Ashiq Hussain Raina, Dr. Irfan Ashraf Bhat, Dr. Mushtaq, Dr. Shagufta Iqbal, Miss Simran, Mrs. Rohini, Mr. Rashpal, Mr. Ashok, Mr. Rajesh, and others, who appreciated the initiative and encouraged students to make the best use of such schemes.

The event concluded with a round of interactive discussion where students raised queries regarding internship placements, stipend details, and sectoral preferences under the scheme — which were addressed thoroughly by Dr. Singh. The college administration lauded the informative nature of the session and committed to conducting more such awareness programs in the future to keep students aligned with national-level opportunities
