Ghulam Nabi Azad Hospitalized During Delegation Visit to Kuwait

New Delhi, May 27: Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Chairman of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP), Ghulam Nabi Azad, was reportedly hospitalized during an official visit to Kuwait. Azad was part of a high-level all-party parliamentary delegation dispatched by the Government of India to engage with Indian expatriates and host nation dignitaries in the Gulf and North African regions.

The development was confirmed by BJP Member of Parliament Baijayant Jay Panda, who is leading the delegation. In a post shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Panda informed the public about Azad’s health condition, expressing concern and appreciation for his active involvement in the initial leg of the tour.

“Midway through our delegation’s overseas visit, Ghulam Nabi Azad had to be admitted to a hospital in Kuwait. While he remains in stable condition and is currently under the careful watch of medical professionals, he will be undergoing a series of tests and procedures,” Panda wrote.

He further stated that Azad’s insights and contributions during the delegation’s engagements in Bahrain and Kuwait had been especially valuable and left a lasting impact. Panda noted that Azad is personally disheartened about not being able to continue with the remaining part of the tour due to his hospitalization.

“We will certainly miss his thoughtful presence and seasoned guidance as the delegation proceeds to Saudi Arabia and Algeria, where further meetings and interactions are scheduled,” Panda added.

The all-party delegation, consisting of senior parliamentarians from across the political spectrum, is on a diplomatic outreach mission to strengthen bilateral relations and engage with the Indian diaspora across the Gulf and North African nations. The visit aims to foster goodwill, discuss issues faced by Indian citizens abroad, and promote cultural and economic cooperation.

As of now, there has been no official update regarding the specific nature of Azad’s illness, but sources indicate that the situation is being closely monitored. Senior leaders and well-wishers across political lines have extended their prayers for his speedy recovery.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, a veteran parliamentarian and former Union Minister, is widely respected across party lines for his experience in governance, foreign affairs, and public service. His absence from the remainder of the delegation’s journey is seen as a significant loss to the ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Further updates on his health condition and progress are expected in the coming days.
