Guru Gobind Singh’s Legacy Inspires Humanity, Says Acharya Balkrishna
Prakash Parv and Lohri festival celebrated on campus, highlighting courage, spirituality, and moral values of the tenth Sikh Guru.
Haridwar, Jan 15: Patanjali University campus came alive with prayers, lights, and cultural festivities as the Prakash Parv of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji was celebrated alongside the Lohri festival. The event brought together teachers, students, and scholars for a meaningful spiritual and cultural gathering.
Organised under the Shri Guru Gobind Singh Chair, the programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Vice Chancellor Acharya Balkrishna, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Mayank Kumar Agrawal, and Deans Dr. Sadhvi Devpriya and Dr. Ritvik Sahay.
Speaking at the event, Acharya Balkrishna described Guru Gobind Singh Ji as a living embodiment of the “saint-soldier” tradition. “His life is not just history or religion; it teaches courage, love for the nation, strong character, and moral values relevant to all humanity,” he said. He added that Guru Gobind Singh Ji exemplified how spirituality and bravery can coexist.
Professor Dr. Jeet Singh Sandhu highlighted the Guru’s role in empowering the oppressed and giving them dignity through the formation of the Khalsa Panth. “By bestowing the title ‘Singh’, he instilled self-respect and courage, encouraging people to uphold truth and righteousness without compromise,” he said.
The celebrations saw active participation from senior faculty members, including Prof. Arvind Kumar Singh, Dr. Toran Singh, and Dr. Vinay Kumar Sharma, alongside a large student presence. The event concluded with the traditional lighting of the Lohri fire, with Dr. Nivedita Sharma delivering the vote of thanks, and Dr. Gurneet Kaur coordinating the programme.
