Health Ministry Launches Monthly Webinar Series to Showcase States’ Best Healthcare Initiatives

Knowledge sharing initiative aims to help states and Union Territories exchange successful healthcare innovations, improve programme implementation, and strengthen the country's public health system through collaboration.

New Delhi, July 11: In a significant step towards strengthening India’s public healthcare delivery system, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has introduced a monthly webinar series under the National Health Mission (NHM). The initiative is designed to create a structured platform where states and Union Territories can regularly present successful public health interventions, exchange implementation experiences, and encourage the adoption of proven healthcare practices across the country.

Launched on the occasion of World Population Day, the year-round programme seeks to improve collaboration among healthcare administrators by documenting innovative ideas developed at the grassroots level and enabling their replication in regions facing similar public health challenges.

Addressing the inaugural session, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, and Mission Director of NHM, Aradhana Patnaik, underlined the importance of innovation in building a resilient and responsive healthcare ecosystem. She said the webinar series would serve as a national platform for recognising practical solutions created by states and districts while ensuring that successful initiatives are shared widely for broader implementation.

Patnaik encouraged state governments and Union Territories to present projects that introduce fresh approaches to emerging healthcare concerns rather than simply highlighting routine programme activities. She noted that many effective initiatives developed at the district level remain largely undocumented despite making meaningful contributions to improving healthcare services.

To ensure systematic documentation and wider dissemination of these best practices, the National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) will provide technical support. The institution will assist in evaluating innovative models, preparing knowledge resources, and expanding the impact of the National Summit on Good and Replicable Innovative Practices.

The first webinar focused on the theme “Anaemia, Child and Adolescent Health,” showcasing examples of successful interventions from Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.

Jharkhand presented its digital Anaemia Mukt Bharat T4 Application, developed to improve anaemia monitoring and service delivery. The state also highlighted its integrated home-based care model that combines newborn and young child healthcare visits, helping strengthen early childhood health services at the community level.

Chhattisgarh shared its Chirayu Day initiative implemented under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), demonstrating how focused child health screening and early intervention activities have improved healthcare outreach.

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh showcased its targeted strategy for addressing the growing challenge of adolescent obesity through preventive healthcare measures, awareness campaigns, and community participation.

According to the Health Ministry, these examples illustrate how locally designed solutions can effectively complement national health programmes while remaining adaptable for implementation in other parts of the country.

The inaugural session witnessed participation from more than 500 officials representing the Central Government, state health departments, district administrations, and public health institutions. The ministry believes that regular interactions through the webinar series will encourage knowledge exchange, accelerate the adoption of successful healthcare models, and contribute to improving health outcomes across India.

By institutionalising the sharing of innovative practices, the government aims to strengthen cooperative federalism in the health sector and promote evidence-based solutions that can enhance the efficiency, accessibility, and quality of public healthcare services nationwide.
