Hema Malini Honours Dharmendra: “He Was My Everything”

Mumbai, Nov 27 : Bollywood is in mourning following the death of iconic actor Dharmendra on November 24 at the age of 89. Three days later, his wife, legendary actress Hema Malini, shared an emotional tribute on social media, remembering not only the star but the loving husband and father he was.
In her heartfelt note, Hema Malini described Dharmendra as her confidant, friend, and guide. “Dharam ji was everything to me,” she wrote, highlighting his roles as a devoted father to their daughters Esha and Ahana, a philosopher, a poet, and her constant support through life’s highs and lows. She also recalled his humility, warmth, and effortless charm that endeared him to family, friends, and fans alike.
Hema Malini praised his unparalleled contribution to Indian cinema, noting his talent and universal appeal. “As a public personality, his talent, his humility despite his popularity, and his universal appeal set him apart as a unique icon, unequalled among all legends,” she added.
Dharmendra, affectionately known as the ‘He-Man’ of Bollywood, had been unwell for some time. He was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on November 10 but was discharged two days later to continue treatment at home. Despite the family’s efforts, he passed away peacefully on November 24. His final rites were held at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai.
He leaves behind a large and loving family, including his first wife Prakash Kaur, his second wife Hema Malini, six children Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Vijeta, and Ajeita from his first marriage, and Esha and Ahana from his second and 13 grandchildren. Hema Malini’s tribute reflects the personal loss and the enduring legacy of a man who left an indelible mark on Indian cinema and the hearts of millions.
