I&C Department hosts Sensitization program on MSME initiatives  

JAMMU, DECEMBER 02: A sensitisation programme on various initiatives by MSME including revised Guidelines of Micro & Small Enterprises Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP) was organised today at Udyog Bhawan, Rail Head Complex Jammu,.

 Anoo Malhotra, Director General Industries & Commerce, Jammu welcomed the participants and appreciated the initiatives of MSME-DI Jammu in helping the MSMEs of J&K. She also thanked MSME-DI Jammu for getting special relaxation in land requirement norms for the establishment of a Tool Room in J&K.

    1. Velladuria, Joint Director of MSME Development & Facilitation Office, Govt. Of India, Industrial Estate Digiana Jammu gave a detailed presentation on revised MSE-CDP guidelines. He exhorted the General Managers, District Industries Centres of Jammu Division, to come up with new proposals so that MSMEs in Jammu are benefit. He noted that there was a lot of potential for cluster development in J&K, which is still at a nascent stage in J&K.

He described a cluster as a group of enterprises located within a contiguous area or a value chain producing the same/similar products/complementary products/services, linked together by common physical infrastructure facilities. He elaborated that the objective of the scheme is to support the sustainability and growth of MSEs by addressing common issues such as improvement of technology, skills and quality, market access, and access to capital and it can help build the capacity of MSEs for common supportive action through formation of self-help groups, consortia and upgradation of associations. He explained that the creation /upgradation of infrastructural facilities and common facility centres for testing, training centre, raw material depot, effluent treatment, and complementing production processes, in the new/existing industrial areas/ clusters of MSEs are also covered under MSE-CDP.

He apprised that various projects have been approved viz. Up-gradation of Industrial Estate at Lassipura, Up-gradation of Industrial Estate at Battal Ballian Udhampur in addition to setting up of the Technology Centre at Industrial Growth Centre, Samba among others.

The meeting was attended by senior officers of the Directorate of Industries & Commerce Department including Joint Director of Industries & Commerce Jammu, General Managers of various DICs along with Functional Managers / Project Managers of their Districts.
