IIM Ahmedabad Achieves 100% Summer Placements for Food and Agribusiness Management Batch

All 44 students enrolled in the PGP-FABM 2026–28 programme have secured summer internship offers, with more than 30 companies participating in the recruitment process and FMCG emerging as the leading sector.

AHMEDABAD, Nov 4: The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) has recorded 100 per cent summer internship placements for its Post-Graduate Programme in Food and Agribusiness Management (PGP-FABM) 2026–28 batch, with all 44 enrolled students receiving internship offers.

The placement process, conducted in a hybrid format, concluded on October 27, bringing participation from more than 30 companies representing different sectors of the economy. The successful outcome highlights the growing demand for management professionals with specialised knowledge of agriculture, food production, supply chains and agribusiness operations.

According to the institute, students will undertake their summer internships between April and June 2027. The participating organisations included companies from fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), agricultural inputs, agritech, management consulting, quick commerce, climate technology and healthcare.

Bayer Crop Science emerged as the leading recruiter for the batch, while several established organisations and new companies also participated in the recruitment exercise.

The results underline the importance of specialised management education in sectors connected with agriculture and food systems, which are undergoing significant changes due to technology, changing consumer requirements and evolving supply chains.

More Than 30 Companies Participate in Recruitment

The summer placement process attracted organisations from a wide range of industries, giving students opportunities across different professional areas.

Regular recruiters included Godrej Agrovet, Nestle, PepsiCo, United Breweries, Sundrop Brands, Accenture, Ernst & Young, AgVaya, Sahyadri Farms, Varaha, Amul, Everest Instruments, PCI and Laila Wellness.

The process also witnessed participation from new and returning recruiters, including Hindustan Unilever, HSBC, Zydex Group, Grow Indigo, Mahyco, First Club Technology, Hetha Organics, Khetika and BloomchemAg.

The presence of organisations from different industries reflects the broad employment opportunities available to graduates specialising in food and agribusiness management.

Companies operating in agricultural inputs and technology require professionals who understand farming systems, distribution networks, business operations and market development. Similarly, FMCG and food processing organisations seek management graduates capable of working across procurement, marketing, supply chain management and business strategy.

The participation of consulting firms also indicates opportunities for students interested in business advisory services and strategic decision-making.

FMCG Emerges as the Largest Recruiting Sector

FMCG accounted for the largest share of internship offers, recruiting 15 students, representing 34 per cent of the batch.

The agricultural inputs and agritech segments together recruited 13 students, accounting for 30 per cent of the total.

Management consulting provided opportunities to six students, representing 14 per cent of the batch. Quick commerce accounted for three internship offers, equivalent to seven per cent.

Climate technology and healthcare recruited two students each, representing four per cent apiece. The remaining three students, or seven per cent, received offers from other sectors.

The distribution demonstrates that students are finding opportunities beyond traditional agricultural businesses.

Food and agribusiness management graduates are increasingly relevant to companies involved in consumer products, technology-driven agriculture, climate solutions and modern retail operations.

Growing Importance of Agribusiness Management Education

Agriculture continues to play an important role in India’s economy, supporting rural livelihoods, food security and several interconnected industries.

However, the sector is increasingly influenced by technological developments, changing consumption patterns, modern logistics and the need for efficient resource management.

Agribusiness management programmes seek to prepare professionals who can understand both agricultural production and the commercial activities associated with it.

These courses combine management principles with specialised knowledge of agricultural markets, food processing, supply chains, rural business development and agricultural technology.

Graduates can pursue careers in procurement, marketing, consulting, commodity trading, business development, operations and strategic management.

The growing participation of companies from different industries in IIMA’s placement exercise indicates that the scope of specialised agribusiness education extends beyond conventional agricultural organisations.

Hybrid Placement Process Concludes Successfully

IIM Ahmedabad conducted the summer internship recruitment exercise in a hybrid format, allowing the institute and participating organisations to coordinate the process through both physical and digital arrangements.

The placement exercise concluded on October 27, with all 44 students securing internship opportunities.

Summer internships form an important part of management education because they allow students to apply classroom learning in professional environments.

Through these assignments, students gain exposure to organisational operations, business challenges, market research and practical decision-making.

The internship period also helps students understand the expectations of employers and develop professional skills before completing their academic programmes.

For students pursuing food and agribusiness management, the experience can provide direct exposure to agricultural markets, food supply chains, consumer businesses and emerging technologies.

Institute to Release Detailed Placement Report

IIM Ahmedabad has indicated that further information about the placement exercise will be made available through an audited report under the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS).

The report is expected to provide additional transparency regarding the recruitment process and its outcomes.

The institute said the report link would be shared after its publication.

The use of standardised placement reporting is important for allowing students, prospective applicants and other stakeholders to understand recruitment outcomes through a more structured format.

Placement figures are often used by prospective management students while comparing programmes and institutions. However, the number of internship offers is only one aspect of evaluating a course.

The nature of assignments, industry exposure, professional development opportunities and the quality of participating organisations also contribute to the overall value of an internship programme.

Strong Industry Participation Benefits Students

The participation of more than 30 companies provides students with exposure to a diverse range of business environments.

For those interested in agricultural technology, organisations working in agritech and agricultural inputs offer opportunities to understand innovations in farming and rural markets.

Students interested in consumer businesses can gain experience in FMCG, food products and quick commerce, while consulting opportunities can provide exposure to research, business planning and strategic assignments.

The involvement of climate technology companies also reflects the growing relationship between business management and environmental sustainability.

Agriculture and food businesses increasingly need professionals who can balance commercial objectives with resource efficiency, supply chain resilience and changing environmental requirements.

A Positive Outcome for the 2026–28 Batch

The achievement of 100 per cent summer internship placements represents a positive outcome for the PGP-FABM 2026–28 batch.

With all 44 students receiving offers and participation from established companies across multiple industries, the placement results underline the relevance of specialised management education in the expanding agribusiness sector.

The upcoming internship period between April and June 2027 will provide students with opportunities to gain practical experience and understand the professional requirements of their chosen industries.

The results also highlight the importance of industry connections in management education, particularly in specialised programmes designed to address the needs of evolving economic sectors.
