Iltija Mufti Claims NC Rattled by PDP’s Groundwork and Promises of Real Progress

Iltija Mufti Appeals to First-Time Voters: Choose Progress, Not Empty Promises

Srinagar, Sept 27: Iltija Mufti, leader of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and daughter of former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, made a strong appeal to young voters, particularly first-time voters, to exercise their right to vote wisely. Addressing a public rally in Lolab, North Kashmir, Iltija emphasized that the PDP is committed to delivering tangible progress and promised not to seek support through emotional manipulation.

Campaigning for PDP candidate Advocate Waqarul Haq Khan, son of former minister Abdul Haq Khan, Iltija contrasted the PDP’s achievements with the failures of the National Conference (NC), a party she accused of neglecting Kashmir’s development during its decades in power. She urged voters to assess the work done on the ground, highlighting the PDP’s role in improving infrastructure and services.

“To all the young people and first-time voters, don’t waste your vote. When polling day comes, vote with purpose. I’m not asking for your vote by playing on emotions or deceiving you with empty promises. Politicians may lie, but I won’t. I’m asking for your support based on the work we’ve done,” Iltija stated, making it clear that her campaign is built on honesty and results, not rhetoric.

She continued her sharp criticism of the NC, accusing the party of failing to deliver basic necessities to the people of Kashmir, especially in the northern region. “Your roads, water supply schemes, and colleges are all a result of the PDP’s efforts. The NC, despite having 60 MLAs over 70 years, brought nothing but hardship. Why would they do anything for you now?” she questioned.

Iltija claimed that the growing support for the PDP has left the NC unsettled and frustrated. She accused the NC of resorting to copying the PDP’s manifesto and slogan out of desperation. “They are frustrated and rattled by the overwhelming love and support the PDP is receiving. It’s evident in their baseless statements and attempts to mimic our campaign,” she said confidently, asserting that the NC is unlikely to win.

In a lighter moment, Iltija expressed her admiration for Lolab’s beauty, noting that it has replaced Pahalgam as the most beautiful place in Jammu and Kashmir in her eyes. “Lolab is simply breathtaking. The people here are so genuine and warm-hearted,” she remarked, underscoring the connection she feels with the local community.

During her address, Iltija also touched on pressing issues, such as unemployment, pledging that the PDP would prioritize creating opportunities for the youth. She also promised to push for the establishment of a hospital and a college in Lolab, urging residents to take the first step by voting for PDP’s candidate. “We have a clear plan, but it begins with your vote. If you want development, come out and support our candidate,” she urged.

She reiterated the need for the central government to adopt a softer approach towards Kashmir, calling on Home Minister Amit Shah to abandon the “muscular policy” currently in place.

When asked about the PDP’s 2014 alliance with the BJP, Iltija responded thoughtfully, explaining that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed entered the alliance with sincerity. She added that the people of Kashmir understand why the PDP partnered with the BJP, and despite the challenges that followed, the party has mounted a strong election campaign. “It’s not about mistakes; it’s about sincerity. People can see through it, and that’s why we are receiving such strong support,” she concluded.

Iltija Mufti’s campaign, marked by candid dialogue and a focus on real progress, continues to gather momentum across Kashmir, with young voters at the forefront of her appeal.
