08-05-2023 : According to the Health Ministry on Monday, India has reported 1,839 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours. As a result, the current active caseload stands at 25,178, which is a mere 0.06 percent of the total cases. Unfortunately, there have been 11 new deaths from the virus reported in the last 24 hours across the country, increasing the death toll to 53,1692.
However, on a positive note, there have been 3,861 patients who have successfully recovered from the disease in the past 24 hours. The total number of individuals who have recuperated from the virus in India is now 4.44 crore (4,44,10,738), reflecting a recovery rate of 98.75 percent. In contrast, the fatality rate remains at 1.18 percent.
Furthermore, the daily positivity rate, which measures the proportion of positive cases out of the total number of tests conducted in the last 24 hours, was recorded at 2.49 percent. The weekly positivity rate, which measures the proportion of positive cases out of the total number of tests conducted in the last week, was pegged at 2.17 percent.
The Health Ministry also reported that 439 vaccine doses of Covid-19 were administered in the last 24 hours as part of the nationwide vaccination drive. The total number of vaccine doses administered under the program so far stands at 220.66 crore, with 95.21 crore second doses and 22.87 crore precaution doses.
In terms of testing, the Ministry reported that 92.77 crore total tests have been conducted in the country so far, with 73,760 tests conducted in the last 24 hours. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, India’s efforts to combat Covid-19 continue to progress, with increasing numbers of vaccinations and recoveries.
