Ahmedabad, September 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a resounding message of India’s economic ambitions on Wednesday, articulating a vision to transform the nation into a global economic powerhouse. His remarks came during an event commemorating the 20th anniversary of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, a milestone that symbolizes the remarkable growth of this Indian state and the broader aspirations of the country.
Reflecting on the genesis of Vibrant Gujarat, Modi underscored how two decades ago, they planted the seeds of what has now blossomed into a substantial and influential entity. Originally conceived to catalyze Gujarat’s growth, the initiative has since evolved into a model for regional development and economic progress.
Addressing a distinguished audience comprising industrialists and business leaders, the Prime Minister stated, “We initiated the Vibrant Gujarat Summit to propel the state towards becoming a vital engine of India’s growth. Since 2014, our mission has expanded to transform India into a global powerhouse of economic growth.” This vision, he asserted, was on the brink of realization.
Modi exuded confidence when he declared, “I guarantee that, in a few short years, India will ascend to the upper echelons of the world’s economies, securing a place among the top three.” This assertion signified the determination of the government to position India as a formidable player on the global economic stage.
Highlighting the evolution of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, the Prime Minister marveled at how it had transformed from a modest beginning into an institution that other states across the nation emulated by organizing their own investment summits. Drawing inspiration from Swami Vivekananda’s philosophy, he noted that every pioneering endeavor, like Vibrant Gujarat, undergoes three stages: initial ridicule, subsequent opposition, and eventual acceptance, especially when the concept is ahead of its time.
In a candid observation, Prime Minister Modi recalled that Vibrant Gujarat achieved its triumph during a period when the central government, referring to the previous UPA administration, exhibited indifference towards the state’s industrial advancement. This serves as a testament to Gujarat’s resilience and the vision that drove the summit to its current eminence.
