India Women’s Hockey Team Visits Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple, Participates in Bhasma Aarti

Harmanpreet Kaur led side participates in Bhasma Aarti to seek divine support after consecutive losses

Ujjain, Oct 15 : The Indian women’s cricket team visited Ujjain’s iconic Mahakaleshwar Temple on Wednesday to seek blessings following back to back defeats in the ICC Women’s World Cup. The team participated in the early morning Bhasma Aarti, a spiritually significant ritual, and offered prayers in the Nandi Hall, revered for its mystical ambiance and rare divine experience of Lord Mahakal.

India began their World Cup campaign with two consecutive wins but suffered losses to South Africa and Australia in Vizag, leaving them fourth on the points table with four points from four matches and a net run rate of 0.682. Three league-stage matches remain, and the team must secure victories in all to reach the semifinals.

Despite the setbacks, players like Smriti Mandhana, Harmanpreet Kaur, Pratika Rawal, Harleen Deol, and Richa Ghosh have been key contributors with the bat, while Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, and Kranti Gaud have bolstered the bowling department. Their performance against top teams, especially in the high stakes clash against Australia, showcased the team’s potential to challenge elite competition.

India’s upcoming matches include England at Indore on Sunday, followed by New Zealand on October 23 and Bangladesh on October 26 at Navi Mumbai’s D.Y. Patil Stadium. The team hopes that divine blessings from Mahakaleshwar will inspire them to bounce back and secure a semifinal berth.
