Industrial Hub of Bari Brahmana Gripped by Unplanned Power Outages: BBIA Seeks Resolution

JPDCL Failed To Provide Uninterrupted Power Supply To Industrial Units of Bari Brahmana - BBIA

Jammu, 30-09-2023: An urgent  Meeting of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) was held today under the Presidentship of Sh. Lalit Mahajan in the presence of Sh. Tarun Singla Sr. Vice President,    Sh. Ajay Langer Vice President, Sh. Viraaj Malhotra General Secretary, Sh. Rajesh Jain Secretary and Sh. Vivek Singhal Treasurer BBIA and other Members to discuss the issue regarding the unscheduled Power Cuts imposed by the SLDC Division of Power Development Department in last few days.

During the course of discussions, Members present in the meeting raised serious concerns about the unscheduled power cuts imposed by the SLDC wing during day and night resulting in huge production as well as financial losses to the Industrial Units working in the Industrial Hub of Bari Brahmana in spite of the facts that Department is collecting Rs. 175 Crores annual Revenues from the Bari Brahmana Industrial Complex.

It is pertinent to mention here that while attracting the New Investment under the NCSS-2021 Scheme of Govt. of India with the commitment of Uninterrupted Power Supply for the Industrial Sector, it is unfortunate to note that the Power Supply from BB-I and BB-2 Grid and Receiving Station Switched Off without any intimation and when contacted the Chief Engineer M&RE and System & Operation, the excuse always given that power supply switched off by SLDC Division of the Power Development Department without any intimation which shows the lack of coordination between the different wings of Power Development Department resulting huge Financial losses to  Industrial Sector fo J & K as well as to JPDCL  and the Power supply depends on the mercy of the System and Operation Wing of the Power Development Department who impose frequent Power Cuts without any intimation to the Unit Holders resulting huge Financial Losses to the Unit Holders as well to the Department.

It is pertinent to mention here that due to the non-availability of Technical Staff and Linemen the Industrial Complex, Bari Brahmana, it will take hours to rectify the faults at Grid Stations as well as to repair the 33 KV Lines and 11KV Feeders as in the case of fault at Grid Stations, the Technical Team always deputed from Jammu which takes long time to rectify the faults. All is not well in respect of rectification of the Fault of the 11KV Feeders, the repair always take hours as only Two Linemen are available in the Complex to maintain around 15 Feeders, and in case of a Fault reported in the Night Hour, the same shall always be rectified next day morning resulting huge losses to Industrial Units.

We request Sh. H. Rajesh Prasad (IAS), Principal Secretary, Power Development Department and Sh. Shiv Anant Tayal (IAS), Managing Director, Jammu Power

Distribution Corporation Ltd. to kindly intervene in the matter to ensure regular Power Supply to Industrial Units with the deployment of adequate Staff and Linemen with the directions to the Chief Engineer M & RE and System & Operation, Jammu for 24 24-hour power Supply to the Industrial Units of Bari Brahmana without any unscheduled Power Cuts.
