Industries Department’s Eviction Notice Sparks Outcry from Micro/Small Units in Digiana Industrial Estate, Jammu

Jammu, 19-03-2024: Small scale Industries Association, Digiana, Jammu has expressed strong resentment against the launch of the Eviction process of Permanent Registered Micro/Small units in Industrial Estate, Digiana Jammu by Industries Department of J&K Govt.

An urgent meeting was held to take serious note of the notice of the Industries Department. In the meeting, members present raised serious concerns about the recorded list which is not correct as the number of units are functional but are declared non-functional. Some units have taken changes and so have applied for change of line/ Additional line/change of constitution and so on. But their names are also included in the list.

The units in Industrial units are Micro/ small and have been run by the Sons of Soil from the beginning since 1960. The Govt. has assured in black and white vide Govt. order that the Sheds/Lands in the Industrial Estate, Digiana will be given to the unit holder on hire purchase/freehold after finalizing a process for that. But to date, no such action in this record has been taken despite our repeated reminders written and verbally too by the association. Even the leasehold rights are given for a particular period. The unit holders are already paying the rent and maintenance charges for sheds. We unit holders have invested in lacs in the repair and maintenance of sheds from time to time which were constructed 65 years back with mud. As govt. is giving preference to start up we would like to bring to your kind notice that in Industrial Estate, Digiana is under a start-up program in J&K.

The Small Scale Industries Associate, Digiana, Jammu requests the Lt. Gen. Hon’ble, Sh. Manoj Sinha Ji, Chief Secretary Shri. Atul Dulloo Ji and Commissioner/ Secretary Shri. Vikram jit Singh Ji to intervene for immediate withdrawal of notices Issued by the Industries Department and also our long pending issues of Hire Purchase/Freehold rights in Industrial Estate, Digiana may please be considered urgently on sympathetic as per commitment of the Govt., as per the press release.
