Industries Dept Vows Support for Local Artisans, Engages Stakeholders to Strengthen PM Vishwakarma Rollout
Skill Upgradation and E-Commerce Integration Highlighted for PM Vishwakarma Artisans in Awareness Drive
JAMMU, JULY 22: To strengthen the implementation of PM Vishwakarma Scheme, Directorate of Industries & Commerce, Jammu organized an impactful awareness session for PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries here at Udyog Bhawan.
The session aimed to enhance the digital presence and market visibility of local craftsmen registered under the PM Vishwakarma scheme. This initiative represents a significant advancement in creating new opportunities for the PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries, with a strong focus on promoting growth and development among local craftsmen. The meeting was attended by about 100 craftsmen from various trades who are registered under the PM Vishwakarma scheme in J&K (UT).
The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Arun Kumar Manhas, Director Industries & Commerce Jammu. He emphasized the significance of PM Vishwakarma Scheme in ensuring hassle free benefits to eligible beneficiaries. The Director Industries & Commerce Jammu also interacted with beneficiaries to understand the on-ground challenges faced by them regarding toolkit delivery, credit support. He assured them that issues will be taken up with the Ministry of MSME, GoI for timely resolution.
Further, Dr. Arun Kumar Manhas stressed on organizing similar sessions with prominent national e-commerce platforms & lead banks for disseminating information regarding credit facility amongst local craftsmen across all districts of Jammu and Kashmir to promote self-reliance and increase the market footprint of local craftsmen.
Director J&K Skill Development Mission Leena Padha also attended the session as special guest. During an interaction with the beneficiaries, she highlighted the critical importance of the Skill up-gradation component incorporated in the scheme. Besides, Joint Director (M&P) Naser Ali and Joint Director Planning Shiwvali from Directorate of Industries & Commerce Jammu and other officers were also present at the event.
A detailed presentation was given by Team Leader PM Vishwakarma State Level Project Management Unit (SLPMU) Kanav Kapahi, highlighting the J&K Progress status in terms of the implementation of the scheme.
Besides, representative from Government e-Marketplace (Gem) & Open Network Digital Commerce (ONDC) conducted detailed awareness session on e-marketing through GeM & ONDC and encouraged the participants to explore the ways to enter in e-marketing space for which the Directorate of Industries & Commerce Jammu will provide all necessary support and assistance.
This event also witnessed active participation from J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) & Polytechnic Institutes.
