Israel Receives Remains of Another Hostage Killed by Hamas
Latest transfer under cease-fire brings total of returned Israeli hostages’ remains to 22
Tel Aviv, Nov 6: Israel announced on Wednesday that it had received the body of another hostage from Hamas through the Red Cross in the Gaza Strip.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the coffin, containing the remains, was transferred from Gaza and will undergo identification at the national forensic institute in Tel Aviv. Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades confirmed the delivery, stating the remains were of “an Israeli captive” found in the Shujaiya neighborhood of Gaza City. The handover is part of an ongoing exchange under the current cease fire between Israel and Hamas.
Prior to this transfer, Hamas had returned the remains of 21 hostages under the truce. If confirmed, six bodies would still remain in Gaza, including four Israelis, one Tanzanian, and one Thai national, according to Israeli officials.
Meanwhile, Gaza health authorities reported receiving 15 additional Palestinian bodies from Israel via the Red Cross, bringing the total number of returned bodies to 285, with medical teams having identified 84 so far.
Since the cease-fire began on Oct. 10, Hamas has released 20 Israeli hostages alive, while Israel has freed 250 Palestinian prisoners and around 1,800 detainees from Gaza, according to Palestinian officials.
