Jammu and Kashmir Entering New Phase of Peace and Growth, Says Jagdeep Dhankhar After Dal Lake Visit

Vice-President praises transformation in J&K during Dal Lake visit, highlights tourism and infrastructure growth

Srinagar, Feb 26: Vice-President C. P. Radhakrishnan on Thursday commended the ongoing transformation in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the Union Territory is moving confidently into a “new era of peace, progress, and prosperity.”

During his maiden visit to the Valley, the Vice-President enjoyed a morning shikara ride on the iconic Dal Lake, where he admired the region’s scenic charm and tranquil surroundings. Sharing his experience on social media platform X, he said he was captivated by Srinagar’s pristine waters and breathtaking landscapes.

Radhakrishnan noted visible improvements in infrastructure and connectivity across the Union Territory. He appreciated the administration’s emphasis on eco-tourism and conservation of natural heritage, saying such initiatives have strengthened the tourism sector while fostering sustainable development.

“These efforts are contributing significantly to stability and economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir,” he observed.

The Vice-President arrived in Srinagar to attend the 21st convocation ceremony of the University of Kashmir. He was received at the airport by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and senior civil and police officials.
