Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Stands Firm, Throws Unwavering Support Behind Jammu Bandh Called by CCI

25-08-2023 : The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Jammu has officially pledged its unwavering support to the upcoming Jammu bandh, a call initiated by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) and scheduled for August 26. In a press conference that transpired, Senior Advocate Vikram Sharma, the President of the Bar Association, announced this extension of solidarity. Delving into the reasoning behind the decision, Sharma explained that after thorough and comprehensive deliberations, the Bar has determined to throw its full weight behind the Jammu bandh call. The Bar Association envisions this collective action as a potent endeavor and anticipates a resounding success for the cause.

Sharma underscored that the High Court Bar Association has consistently advocated for the concerns of the Jammu region. This commitment continues to persist, and the Bar Association is resolute in collaborating with other segments of society to ensure the resolution of pressing issues. The confluence of efforts is aimed at addressing these concerns in a holistic manner.

Expressing optimism in the authorities’ responsiveness, Sharma conveyed a hope that the administration would exhibit swift and effective action to rectify the challenges surrounding the Sarore Toll Plaza and the Smart Meters. He emphasized the aspiration for a harmonious society where citizens do not feel compelled to take to the streets in protest. In this context, Sharma appealed to the Government to promptly release civil society members who are currently detained in Kathua Jail. This gesture, he asserted, would serve as a goodwill gesture, especially with the festive season on the horizon.

Turning attention to the visit of a team from the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to Jammu, Sharma expressed confidence that positive outcomes would emerge within the imminent days. He looked forward to the possible end of the existing impasse, imbuing a sense of anticipation for constructive developments.
