Congress protests in Jammu for second day, seeks resignation of HM over his Ambedkar remarks
Jammu, Dec 19: Congress held strong protests in Jammu city, besides in some other districts seeking the the resignation & apology of Home Minister Amit Shah over his derogatory remarks against the father of the Constitution, Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, in Parliament the other day.
A strong protest demonstration was held by the Congress party leaders and activists in Jammu raising slogans against Home Minister Amit Shah for his alleged derogatory and insulting language against Bharat Ratan Dr B R Ambedkar the other day in Parliament, demanding his resignation and public apology.
A large number of protestors, including women and youth, led by Working President Shri Tara Chand and Shri Raman Bhalla, along with several senior leaders including Th Balwan Singh, Ravinder Sharma, Ved Mahajan, Th Balbir Singh, Indu Pawar, Hari Singh Chib, Shah Mohd Chaudhary, Th Manmohan Singh, Shabir Khan, Dina Nath Bhagat, Sheikh Mujeeb ( Doda) besides other prominent leaders carrying play cards in favour of Dr. Ambedkar and against Amit Shah, marched towards residency road from Shaheedi Chowk.
The police stopped the protestors at Shaheedi Chowk, buy some Young Turks pushed back the police contingent, broke barricading and reached ahead on the residency road after a minor scuffle with deployed policemen; however, no one was injured and later stopped peacefully and held a sit-in dharna on residency road in front of TRC
They continued raising strong sloganeering aganst Mr Shah demanding his resignation.
Talking to reporters Former Deputy CM Tara Chand lashed at Amit Shah and the BJP for insulting Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar and it’s speaks out their mentality against Dr Ambedkar and Dalit Samaj. His utterances are highly irresponsible, derogatory, and insulting words against Dr Ambedkar
He said that entire nation seeks the immediate resignation of Amit Shah and a public apology from him. He said that Dalit Samaj and congress shall not rest. He said BJP philosphy and anti Dalit indicated by their actions.
Working President Raman Bhalla in his hard hitting speech accused Amit Shah of insulting Dr. Ambedkar and hurting the sentiments of countrymen.
This is highly derogatory on the part of Amit Shah for which he should apologize before the nation. The nation shall not tolerate insult of Dr Ambedkar in any manner.
Prominent leaders who participated in the protest include Shashi Sharma, Gurmeet Singh, Narinder Sharma, Namrata Sharma, Suresh Dogra, Amrit Bali, Sheikh Mujeeb, Pravez Wani, Shiv Kumar Sharma, Vijay Sharma, Akash Bharat, Ajay Lakhotra, Jatin Raina, Gurdarshan Singh, Madan Lal Dogra, Ch. Hussain Waffa, Sanjeev Panda, Neeraj Gupta, Sahil Sharma, Kapil Singh, Deepika Thusoo, Bimla Slathia, Michael Wazir, Ricky Dalotra, Camres Davit Babloo, Vandana Sharma, Suman Choudhary, Annirudh Sawhney, Dr. R.K Khajuria, Sat Paul Sapolia Latish Sharma, Rakesh Sharma, and others.
Similar protests were held in different districts, including Kathua, where DCC president Pankaj Dogra led the protest. They raised slogans against Amit Shah and demanded the resignation ofthe Home Minister. At Udhampur, the protest was led by Summit Mangotra and protestors demanded a public apology from the Home Minister.
