Javed Rana participates in Baba Sakhi Sarwar Mela; Calls for promoting composite culture, tourism in J&K

Asks youth to shoulder responsibility to keep drugs away from society

MENDHAR: Senior National Conference leader and President of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) Pirpanjal, Javed Ahmed Rana today participated in the Baba Sakhi Sarwar Mela held in Sakhi Maidan area of Mendhar Tehsil, Poonch district.

The Mela witnessed the confluence of thousands of devotees from all over the state, who paid their respects to the revered Baba Sakhi Sarwar. The event also featured a grand Dangal and various traditional activities, attracting devotees from Mendhar, Poonch, Rajouri, and other parts of the Jammu division.

Addressing the gathering, Javed Ahmed Rana emphasized the significance of events like the Baba Sakhi Sarwar Mela in showcasing the state’s composite culture. He stressed the importance of preserving and promoting the rich cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir, which manifests in such spiritual gatherings bringing communities together.

Rana further called upon the government to take adequate steps in order to promote such events, which not only strengthen the cultural fabric of the state but also boost tourism. He highlighted the potential of such events in attracting visitors from across the country and even international tourists, who have a keen interest in exploring the diverse cultural landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Senior NC leader urged the government to invest in the development of infrastructure and amenities necessary to support and organize such events on a larger scale. He emphasized the need for improved transportation connectivity and accommodation options to ensure a seamless experience for the visitors.

Rana also stressed the importance of preserving the traditional activities and practices associated with such festivals, as they provide a unique insight into the local customs and way of life. He advocated for the involvement of local communities and organizations in organizing such events, which not only preserves their cultural legacy but also enables economic opportunities for the region.

The senior NC leader complimented the organizers and participants of the Baba Sakhi Sarwar Mela for their continued commitment in preserving the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir. He assured the gathering of his party’s unwavering support and commitment towards promoting the state’s cultural diversity and boosting tourism.

Expressing concern over the sluggishness shown by the government in containing menaces of drugs and alcoholism, Rana asked the youth to shoulder the responsibility to ensure that young lot in the society doesn’t fall prey to these social evils. He said that hundreds of youths in J&K are slipping into the dark alleys of drug addiction as the region has been flooded with a huge quantity of drugs. He said that the need of the hour is that helmsmen should chalk out an effective and comprehensive plan keeping in mind the broad contours of the issue to tackle the drug menace in the state, where every day scores of youths are falling prey to this scourge but reality is entirely different with big claims made on daily basis with no change on ground.
