J&K I Corruption Scandal: ACB Registers Case Against JE, Seizes Properties Worth Crores

JAMMU, Jul 5: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) announced on Friday that it has registered a case against Dil Pazeer, a Junior Engineer in the Jal Shakti Department, Division Poonch, on charges of corruption. This action was taken under FIR number 04/2024 PS ACB Rajouri, pursuant to Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018).

The case was initiated following a verification process by the ACB, which examined allegations that Dil Pazeer had amassed assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The verification revealed that the public servant had accumulated substantial movable and immovable assets both in his name and in the names of his family members. These assets include three houses near Govt. PG College Kheora Rajouri, valued in crores; a double-storey house on Plot No. 10N, Gujjar Colony, Sunjwan, Jammu, valued in lakhs; and a Scorpio S-11 vehicle (registration No. JK11F-5433, registered on April 12, 2022).

Additionally, Dil Pazeer and his family possess other properties, further suggesting illicit enrichment through corrupt practices. The evidence gathered suggests a prima facie case under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018), indicating that the assets in question are disproportionate to the known sources of his income.

Following the formal registration of the case, the ACB, assisted by local police and overseen by magistrates and independent witnesses, conducted simultaneous searches at the premises associated with Dil Pazeer in both Jammu and Rajouri districts. The bureau stated that it will undertake a detailed and thorough scrutiny of the seized records as the investigation progresses. The investigation is ongoing, with further developments expected as the ACB continues its efforts to uncover the full extent of the alleged corruption.
