J&K Police Demolish ₹2 Crore Worth Assets Linked to Drug Trafficking Network

Properties allegedly purchased through drug trafficking proceeds seized under NDPS Act as authorities intensify anti-narcotics campaign across the Valley.

SRINAGAR, May 30: Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified their campaign against narcotics trafficking by attaching immovable properties valued at nearly ₹2 crore that were allegedly acquired through proceeds generated from the illegal drug trade.

The action forms part of the ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan’, a comprehensive initiative aimed at dismantling narcotics networks and targeting the financial assets of individuals involved in drug-related activities.

According to officials, the first attachment was carried out by Bemina Police Station in Srinagar, where a residential property estimated to be worth around ₹1.5 crore was seized. The property belongs to Mudasir Ahmad Pir, also known by the aliases Sahil and Doge, a resident of Firdous Colony, Bemina, who is alleged to have been involved in narcotics trafficking.

Police said the action was taken under provisions of Section 68F(1) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act after obtaining approval from the Competent Authority operating under the Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act (SAFEMA), functioning under the Ministry of Finance’s Department of Revenue.

The attached assets include a double-storey residential house along with approximately four marlas of land. Investigators reportedly established that the property had been acquired through funds generated from unlawful narcotics operations.

In another operation, Srinagar Police attached a residential property and adjoining land valued at nearly ₹50 lakh belonging to Shafiq Ahmad Khawaja, a resident of Dildar Karnah in Kupwara district.

Officials stated that the attachment was executed under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, 1985, in connection with FIR No. 10/2024 registered at Police Station M.R. Gunj under relevant provisions of the anti-narcotics law.

Authorities said both actions were undertaken after completing all legal formalities and conducting detailed investigations that linked the properties to income generated through illicit drug trafficking activities.

Police officials reiterated their commitment to curbing the narcotics menace by not only arresting offenders but also targeting the economic infrastructure that sustains illegal drug networks. They emphasized that such measures are intended to deter criminal enterprises and strengthen efforts to create a drug-free society across Jammu and Kashmir.

The latest attachments are part of a broader strategy focused on identifying, freezing and confiscating assets believed to have been accumulated through proceeds of crime, thereby weakening the financial foundations of narcotics syndicates operating in the region.
