JMC Chief Dr. Devansh Yadav Promises Street, Drainage, and Park Improvements in Christian Colony by Christmas

Jammu, October 14:  In response to a request from Mr. Nassir Masih, Chairman of the J&K Christian Minority Welfare Association, Dr. Devansh Yadav, Commissioner of the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), visited the Christian Colony on Residency Road, Ward No. 7, to address several civic issues. Accompanied by the Joint Commissioner Health and Sanitation, Joint Commissioner Works (Zone One), an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), and a team of sanitation workers, Dr. Yadav assessed the conditions of the lanes, drains, streetlights, and sanitation facilities in the area.

During the visit, Mr. Nassir Masih appealed to the Commissioner to repair the damaged lanes, by-lanes, and drains, emphasizing the need for the work to be completed before Christmas. He also urged the Commissioner to prioritize the construction of a boundary wall and gate at the Christian graveyard, as well as the repair of a public toilet facility within the premises.

Mr. Michael Wazir, another resident, brought to Dr. Yadav’s attention the condition of the park in Christian Colony, Ward No. 7. He explained that the park, constructed at a cost of ₹1.18 crore under the Smart City Project by JMC last year, has remained closed to the public, leading to its deterioration.

Expressing concern over the park’s neglected state, Dr. Yadav directed the relevant authorities to take immediate action to clean and open the park for the public as soon as possible, ensuring that it serves the community effectively.

Dr. Yadav also visited St. Peter’s Catholic Church, where he was warmly welcomed by Fr. Arul. The visit saw the presence of several community members, including Mr. Rewal Masih, Mr. Saleem Masih, Mr. Pawan, Mrs. Renu Angelina, Mrs. Balbli, and others, who interacted with the Commissioner to discuss further issues and improvements needed in their locality.
