Key Stakeholders Meet Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister to Address Long-Pending Industrial Issues

Jammu, 29-11-2024: In a significant development, Sh. Jatinder Aul, Co-Chairman of the Federation of Industries (FOI) and President of SSIAD (Small Scale Industries Association, Digiana Estate), along with Sh. Gurmeet Singh Jimmy, Media Secretary of SSIAD and Senior Vice-President Trade & Industry Jammu Province National Conference (NC), held a crucial meeting with Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister Sh. Surinder Choudhary. The meeting was graced by the presence of Sh. Jatinder Singh Lucky, a senior National Conference (NC) leader.
The primary agenda of the meeting was to bring attention to a series of pressing issues that industrialists have been grappling with for the past decade. These include concerns related to Goods and Services Tax (GST), Value Added Tax (VAT), excise duties, leasehold rights, and various administrative and operational challenges faced by industries across different estates.
The delegation emphasized the urgency of addressing these concerns, citing their prolonged impact on the growth and sustainability of industrial operations. The Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister was briefed on the grievances of industrialists from key industrial estates, including Digiana, Gangyal, Birpur, Bari-Brahmana, Samba, and Kathua.
In his remarks, Sh. Jatinder Aul highlighted the need for immediate policy interventions and practical solutions to ensure the competitiveness of local industries. He further requested the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister to hold an interactive session with six key industry members representing the aforementioned estates to gain a deeper understanding of their challenges and collaboratively devise actionable resolutions.
The Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister acknowledged the significance of the industrial sector in driving economic growth and assured the delegation of his commitment to resolving these long-standing issues. He further expressed his willingness to meet the industrial representatives at the earliest to chart a way forward.
Gurmeet Singh Jimmy, speaking on behalf of SSIAD, underscored the importance of governmental support in enabling industrialists to navigate regulatory and operational challenges. Sh. Jatinder Singh Lucky also voiced his solidarity with the industrialists, emphasizing the need for a cohesive approach to support the sector’s development.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with all parties reaffirming their commitment to strengthening the industrial ecosystem in the region.
