04-07-2023 :  On the morning of July 4, an earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter Scale struck Ladakh, specifically impacting the region of Kargil. The seismic event occurred at approximately 7:38 am local time. The National Center for Seismology reported that the tremors were felt at a location approximately 401 km north of Kargil.

The earthquake brought a sudden jolt to the region, prompting concerns among the local population. With a magnitude of 4.7, the earthquake falls within the range of a moderate seismic event.
